Officers view the Professional Security Training Network videos and complete a written

test for each section, consisting of 20 questions each.


  8 Hours of Basic Security Training:

  8 Hours of First Response Medical Training:


Emergency First Aid                Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

Blood borne Pathogens


8 Hours On-the-Job Training:


Depending on the client site, officers will average 8 hours of one-on-one training with a site supervisor or an officer who has a thorough knowledge of the site and post instructions.

Armed Guards

Armed security officers will receive the same initial training as unarmed security officers, plus


10 Hours Firearms Training:


Officers will receive classroom instruction emphasizing “use of force” criteria by a State-Certified Firearms Instructor, as well as range practice.  They will also complete a “Course of Fire”, per state regulations.  The officers must successfully complete all elements of the certification process with a passing score in order to be licensed as an Armed Security Officer. Officers must receive annual training and re-qualify with their weapon to demonstrate proficiency.


Loss Prevention




8 Hours Classroom Training:


Loss Prevention agents will also receive the same initial 10 hours of training as unarmed security officers, plus


40 Hours OJT Training:


The agent will receive site-specific training from a Loss Prevention Supervisor who has complete knowledge of the site and the post instructions.  This OJT also includes review of the Loss Prevention Manual, to include:

Types & Techniques of Shoplifters

Types of Surveillances

Investigative Techniques

Contacting a Suspected Shoplifter

Processing & Reporting Procedures

Detainment Without Arrest (DWA)
